System Configuration

Xtralite works in conjunction with a leading control specialist who manages the system configuration.  As a general guide we have outlined the key components that make up a typical system.  Detailed guidance of the required performance of smoke vents can be found under EN12101 and Approved Document B sets out locations and minimum sizes for the vents that should be installed as well as specifying the performance of the control panel(s), power supplies and associated components.

Simple system

Typically used in small stair building.

Networked control

Ideal configuration where wiring distances are considerable or there is little free space for a central zoned control panel. Each controller would be capable of sending and receiving signals including 'heartbeat' status monitoring and contain primary and
secondary power supplies.

Centralised control

Systems can be installed with centralised zoned control to allow primary and
secondary power for the system to be located in one control panel.
